Definitions Study for Sustainable Projects
In commission by the Netherlands Energy Agency and the Platform for Energy Transition in the Built Environment W/E consultants has set up a framework for the definition of zero-carbon or zero energy building projects. First we clarify the importance of distinguishing and defining both a project and a system boundary. Furthermore we recommend to use a definition framework based on three elements: Goal, Scope and Means. Each specific project needs to decide on and communicate the elements for its own Goal (e.g. Zero Carbon in 2030), the Scope for that goal (i.c. residential/non-residential buildings) and thirdly the specific Means the project owners want to apply in order to meet this goal.
